I made a ringtone on itunes and I was trying to transfer it onto my phone but my friend said the ringtones only work for iphones, is this true?

I have a pantech slate (at&t) my family all has iphones and i cant find my charger and i need to charge it now. how do i charge it??!?!? HELP PLEASE
